I selected Picasso’s artworks as the canvas for my creative transformation, endeavoring to imbue these at times less conventionally feminine depictions with an aura of resplendent glamour. While I find immense inspiration in the Master’s artistry, I occasionally diverge from his interpretations, particularly when they seem influenced by a more masculine perspective.

For over a quarter of a century, I resided in close proximity to his villa in Mougins—an inspiring locale that fueled my ambitious undertaking. The “Pasion and Fusion” collection was born from a deep wellspring of passion and a profound respect for Picasso’s original creations. It was my earnest endeavor to endow these women with the glamour they inherently deserved. In this journey, I also paid homage to Picasso himself, channeling his spirit into my work, particularly in the transformation of some of his self-portraits.

In the initial stages, I approach these artworks with the utmost reverence, preserving the core integrity of Picasso’s originals. My selection often gravitates towards his smaller works and drawings, each of which I resurrect on monumental canvases. These pieces undergo a metamorphosis, enriched with the infusion of rhinestones, mirrors, silk, and an assortment of recycled materials—each a vessel of history and reality. Through my artistry, I aspire to introduce a new dimension to these already stunning masterpieces.

Picasso’s indelible impact on the art world remains unparalleled, and it is a profound honor to pay tribute to his legacy. Simultaneously, I use my art as a platform to voice my reservations rooted in feminist beliefs. Perhaps, in some alternate reality where Picasso still walks among us, my creative endeavors could have brought a smile of approval to his face while prompting a shift in his artistic mood.
